Credit counter, smarter candidate search and more

Recruiter using CV Discovery

Here are some of the changes our product team has been working on at Aviation Job Search over recent weeks, with a mix of new features, a fix that some of you will have been waiting for, and the first stage of a bigger project that will change how you find candidates on our platform.

See your credits from any page in your dashboard

We have improved visibility of your remaining credits by adding a new credit counter to the menu bar for logged in users. This avoids the need to click into separate pages or contact us to find out how many credits you have remaining.

Click it or hover over it and a panel opens showing your balance for each type of credit:

  • Job credits - how many you have remaining, along with an expiry date if you bought a bulk pack, or a renewal date if you’re on a subscription
  • CV download credits - your remaining balance, plus the expiry or renewal date that applies to your account
  • Job upsell credits - how many you have left and when they expire

We’ve also made it easier to top up your credits. Each credit type has its own buy more link, which takes you to the right purchase page so you don’t have to go hunting for it. If you’ve used up a particular type of credit, the panel will tell you so and point you towards topping up, rather than leaving you guessing.

For teams sharing an account, this should also help when one person is planning a campaign and another is downloading CVs, since anyone logged in can see where the balance stands before committing to the next step.

Job emails for Multiposter jobs now send as they should

Some recruiters weren’t receiving “applied” notification emails when a candidate applied to one of their roles, and some candidates weren’t receiving job alerts for roles that matched their preferences.

This happened when adverts were posted through multiposter APIs (the connection used by many recruitment software systems to send jobs out to several job boards at once), and their salary had been entered as free text only, such as “competitive” or “dependent on experience”, without a figure attached.

That combination stopped the emails from going out. Although it only affected a small number of users, it has now been fixed, so notification emails send correctly on Aviation Job Search, and job alerts are going out from our job alert engine as normal with no action recruited from recruiters.

Pages that load faster

We have made some changes to speed up the loading time of pages on Aviation Job Search. This has involved moving some of the backend code into their own separate files which makes our pages more lightweight and faster-loading.

Our developers have also tidied up and rewritten some of the code so that it is easier to maintain and build on. While faster pages reduce friction and frustration for users (both recruiters and job seekers), it will also help our search engine optimisation so that your jobs rank higher on search engines with no additional effort on your part.

A new candidate search engine

We’ve rebuilt our candidate search from the ground up to help you find more of the right people. We’re rolling this out across the platform, but our new ‘vector search’ has a deeper understanding of terminology used and can also use synonyms to help narrow down the search faster and find more-relevant candidates.

Previously, search only searched profiles and CVs for the exact words you type.

So a search for ‘cabin crew’ wouldn’t show someone who describes themselves as a ’flight attendant’, and a search for a ‘licensed engineer’ might miss candidates who simply list their Part 66 B1 license.

The new search still works the same way from the user perspective; you still search by keyword. But it will return more relevant results and help you discover candidates you might previously have overlooked. Likewise, search also stays up to date with our live database so when a candidate changes their profile or uploads a new CV, you’ll always see the latest version.
