At Aviation Job Search, we have been working with professionals in the industry to find out more about what factors they consider when looking for a new job, and why they're searching. We surveyed over 1000 aviation professionals in total about their job search, which can be found in our recently launched annual report. You can view the figures below:
Jobseekers were asked to answer three questions:
- Why are you searching for a new job?
- How often do you search for jobs?
- What's the most important factor when searching for a new job?
- Would you still apply for a job if it didn't display salary information?
- How often do you receive a pay rise?
- How far would you be willing to travel for a new job?
- Would you be willing to relocate for a new job?
The results were as follows:
Why are you searching for a new job?
30% of aviation professionals said that they were searching for a new job because of career progression, while 29% said they were ready for a new challenge.
How often do you search for a new job?
55% of professionals said that they search for jobs daily, while 29% said weekly.
What's most important to you when searching for a new job?
34% of professionals said that salary was the most important factor when they searched for a new job, while 24% said location was crucial to their decision.
Would you still apply for a new job if it didn't display salary information?
59% of aviation professionals said that they would not apply to a job advert if it didn’t display salary information.
How often do you receive a pay rise?
48% said that they received a pay rise annually.
How far would you be willing to travel to find a new job?
74% said they would be happy to travel 30+ miles for a new job, which is no surprise considering that most jobs within the airline industry include travel or time away from home.
Would you be willing to relocate for a new job?
89% said yes.
